Family Violence Provision (FVP) in Immigration Law

Course Description:

This one day training is vital for community workers and volunteers who provide support for migrant women experiencing family violence perpetrated by a sponsoring partner. Participants will learn how the FVP operates, its impact on migrant women, eligibility criteria, how to provide effective evidence, support services and how workers can better assist throughout the application process.

Cross-Cultural Domestic Violence Training (CCDV)

Course Description:

This one day training will explore the multitude of issues and barriers confronting migrant and refugee women of non-English speaking background (NESB) in experiencing and escaping domestic violence, and accessing services. The training will also look at the impact of immigration issues as well as strategies for improving access to services for NESB women.

The training is open to all community workers who are/will/should be working with migrant and refugee women. A basic understanding of domestic violence is necessary for attendance in this training. Early registration with payment two weeks prior to the training date is essential.
