Radio Plays on Forced Marriages in 9 Languages
Immigrant Women's Speakout Association of NSW has developed two radio plays on forced marriage in nine languages: Arabic, Bengali, Dari, Hindi, Persian, Punjabi, Pushto, Urdu and English.

The first radio play deals with a victim who has left a forced marriage and is speaking about it to her counsellor. The second radio play explores the impact of forced marriage on a young woman who may be forced to marry and the legal consequences.

Funded by the Law and Justice Foundation of New South Wales, these two plays aim to raise awareness about the impacts of forced and servile marriages and provide information and useful contact information of relevant service providers who can assist those in forced marriage situations in Australia. The plays have been designed to cater to people who may not be able to read in their first language.

Radio Plays about Domestic Violence in 9 Languages
IWSA has once again produced a set of radio plays about domestic & family violence for CALD women who may not be able to access information in a written format. This time, the Law and Justice Foundation has provided funding for 3 plays, allowing new programs and information to be incorporated. These plays include:

1. Domestic Violence – What You Can Do About It
2. Family Violence Provisions
3. Staying Home Leaving Violence

The grant also allowed for the plays to be produced in 9 languages:

2. Dari (Afghanistan)
3. Dinka (Sudan)
4. Khmer (Cambodia)
5. Krio (Sierra Leone)
6. Mandarin (China)
7. Somali (Somalia)
8. Sudanese Arabic (Sudan)
9. Vietnamese

Audio CD on Tenant's Rights and Responsibilities
(How to get information about tenant's rights and responsibilities on private rental accommodation - Radio Play)
Community organisations may use this radio play in their community education activities on tenant's rights and responsibilities. The script has been recorded in seven community languages: Pashto, Dari, Farsi, Assyrian, Dinka, Samoan and Tongan.
This Project has been funded by the NSW Office of Fair Trading through the Think Smart Tenancy Grants Program.

Domestic Violence Plays in Community Languages
With support from the Law and Justice Foundation, the Immigrant Women’s Speakout Association of NSW has developed plays and an Audio CD to provide information on Domestic Violence and in particular on Apprehended Domestic Violence Orders. The CD consists of 2 short plays in 5 languages:Arabic Sudanese (Sudan), Dinka (Sudan), Dari (Afghanistan), Kriol (Sierra Leone) and Somali (Somalia). The first script explores what Domestic Violence is and the second presents how to apply for an Apprehended Violence Order.
The titles of the plays are:

Domestic Violence video in Turkish language consisting of interviews with 3 survivors of domestic violence looking at effects of domestic violence and social and cultural constraints facing women leaving violent relationships.

Living Without Violence 2000

Strong Families Resource Kit
Addressing family violence issues in the Pacific communities

The need to raise awareness of domestic violence issues and the profile of domestic violence services within Pacific communities, led to the inception of the "Strong Families" project. The targeted communities were the Fijian, Samoan, Maori and Tongan.
The Resource Kit consists of a DVD of five discussion starters, a user manual and a series of radio scripts which reinforce the main messages of the DVD while simultaneously publicising emergency services for victims of domestic violence. This Resource Kit is for Community educators.

Speakout Domestic Violence Project Information Cards

The information cards inform women of the services provided by the project. They are available in 12 community languages: Arabic, Burmese, Chinese, Croatian, Farsi, Indonesian, Korean, Kurdish, Serbian, Spanish, Thai and Vietnamese

Competency Package for GP's and Nurses

The 'Competency Package' is a new resource consisting of an information package for GPs and nurses on the Domestic Violence Provision in Immigration Law and their role within in. This brief package explains the DV Provision, explores why it is important to support women in this situation and provides useful suggestions on how to write a most effective statutory declaration to assist women.
